How to Display a War
July 2020
Photography book project centred on the photography exhibition “Road to Victory” held at the MoMA in 1942 and designed by Herbert Bayer.
The exhibition offered a picture of the U.S.A. after the attack on Pearl Harbor, six months before the exhibition itself opened its doors. Unlike a catalogue, which treats on the artist and their exhibited works, “How to Display a War” focuses on the exhibition’s design by recreating its structure and itinerary. Through the use of a concertina fold and historical photographs of the original spaces, this book is a miniature model of what became a landmark for modern exhibition design.
